Sunday Sketch: The Humboldt squid

The Humboldt squid (Dosidicus gigas), also known as the jumbo squid, are most often found in waters between California and the southernmost tip of South America. These animals have been observed performing same-sex mating rituals. Males can be found having been mated with by multiple other males, likely as a result of indiscriminate mating behavior by highly competitive male squid.
