Sunday Sketch: The memory of an elephant

Elephants (family Elephantidae) have impressive spatial-temporal and social memory. Numerous studies have shown that they can memorize specific locations of resources across hundreds of kilometers. They also can learn to distinguish the unique calls and chemical cues of conspecifics (i.e., other elephants), and can recognize hundreds of individuals!
