Look closely—there are tiny dragons hiding in the desert sands! The Flat-tailed Horned Lizard (Phrynosoma mcallii) is a highly camouflaged denizen of the Colorado Desert, only found in small areas of California, Arizona, Baja California and Sonora. A lot of work is done in these areas to protect this rare lizard from human activities like off-roading and development.
